How to use this calculator

  1. Choose whether you know an hourly rate or a total booking price.
  2. Enter the paid care hours on each day and the number of days covered.
  3. Enter the known price in the appropriate field. Read the equivalent hourly, daily, and total amounts.

Formula and method

Paid hours = hours per day Γ— days. Total cost = hourly rate Γ— paid hours. Hourly rate = total cost Γ· paid hours.

For the assumptions behind these results, read the explanation below. You can also explore Cost of Owning a Dog and Dog Food.

A worked example

Three paid hours each day for four days is 12 hours. At 15 per hour the total is 180, or 45 per day. The reverse mode converts a 180 total back to the same hourly rate.

Define the time included in the booking

A visit, an overnight stay, and continuous supervision are not necessarily billed in the same way. This calculator models a simple hourly arrangement with the same paid hours each day. Before comparing two quotes, check that their descriptions include the same amount and type of care. An overnight flat fee should not automatically be interpreted as 24 paid hours.

All monetary fields use your chosen currency consistently. The tool performs arithmetic but does not convert currencies or recommend a local market rate. Taxes, travel charges, additional pets, holiday supplements, and other fixed fees are not automatically included. Add or separate those items deliberately when interpreting a quote.

Compare care plans as well as prices

A lower implied hourly rate does not identify the best match for a pet. Feeding routines, walks, medication arrangements, cleaning, and emergency contact plans can require different experience and time. Write down the expected tasks so that the price calculation corresponds to a specific service rather than an undefined stay.

When hours differ from one day to another, calculate the total paid hours first. You can enter that total as the hours for a single day if it is no more than 24, or use several separate calculations and sum their costs. A record of agreed dates, duties, and charges makes the final payment easier to check and reduces misunderstandings.

Frequently asked questions

Can I include partial hours?

Yes. For example, 1.5 hours means one hour and thirty minutes. The calculation accepts fractional hours and days.

How do I switch between a rate and a total?

Choose the calculation mode. Total-cost mode uses the hourly-rate field; reverse mode uses the total-cost field and ignores the other price.
